Going Bowling Texas Style
By JD
The college football regular season has come to an end, which means its Bowl season. No Texas team made a BCS bowl, but all the Texas teams feel like they’re building something strong for 2013.
SMU is becoming a regular in Hawaii, as they go back to the Hawaii Bowl against Fresno State. SMU is excited that going Bowling is becoming the norm at SMU, and hope to build on that to win a conference title.
Rice finds itself at the Armed Forces Bowl, against Air Force. Rice is hoping to become a Bowl regular, and a win over a tough Air Force team will be a good start.
Baylor finds itself in another good Bowl, this time it’s the Holiday Bowl against UCLA. Baylor ended the season as strong as anybody, and hopes to continue on that against the Pac 12 south division champ. Baylor as of now has a top 25 recruiting class, building on RG3’s Heisman year. Adding another Bowl trophy helps Baylor take that next step.
Texas Tech is in the Car Care of Texas Bowl, doesn’t sound too fancy but it’s a game. Minnesota shouldn’t be able to keep up with Tech, but a loss in this game might re heat Tubberville’s seat.
TCU ends the season in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, taking on Michigan State. TCU wants to add a Bowl win to the Big 12 total, and put a victory against a good program in their pocket as they try to recruit against the rest of the Big 12.
Texas finds itself down the road in San Antonio, at the Alamo Bowl against #13 Oregon State. This is a winnable game for the Horns, who hope 2013 will be huge for them. Losing the Alamo Bowl might set the program back a few steps, so don’t sleep on the importance of this game for Mack Brown.
Texas A&M finds itself in a familiar Bowl, Cotton Bowl vs Oklahoma. The Aggies would like to show they aren’t the same Big 12 south whipping boy they used to be, and no better chance than against the Sooners in Texas.
