Larry Allen-Newest Cowboy in the HOF
With another year comes another NFL Hall of Fame class and with that comes another Dallas Cowboy to put on that yellow jacket. This time, it is one of the greatest NFL lineman of all time and arguably (with Rayfield Wright) the best offensive lineman to wear the star on his helmet, Larry Allen. Allen joins 6 others in the NFL Hall of Fame class of 2013. After being drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the 1994 draft, Allen spent 14 years in the NFL. 12 of which were with the Dallas Cowboys. He spent his last two years with San Francisco before signing a one day deal and retiring as a Cowboy. Allen was elected to 11 Pro Bowls, 7 straight all pro seasons and had the rare phenomenon of making two all decade teams. Allen’s size, ability and pure strength helped the Cowboys win the Superbowl in 1995 and he was an anchor in Cowboys dominating offensive line. He played on the left and the right side, guard and tackle, the only position on the line he didn’t play was center. Other than being a great lineman, Allen is known for his super human strength. He has been recorded benching over 700 pounds and rumored to have squatted over 900. Shortly after NFL announced the class, a tearful Allen told NFL Network that Jerry Jones will introduce him in the ceremony and stated that “He’s (Jerry Jones) been like a father figure to me.”
